2011 NBA Playoffs: Beware Of Zebras

The 2011 NBA playoffs got off to a great start this weekend featuring everything from heroic performances to unlikely upsets. And like every year, the NBA's real stars come to play. And I don't mean the Derrick Rose's or the Dwight Howard's.

I'm talking about the men in zebra uniforms who unfortunately have a tough task making the right calls. Bad officiating may have cost Denver and New York playoff wins that they could have had.

New York at Boston:

Clearly a moving screen by Garnett to free up Allen, who eventually hit the 3 pointer. Although I'm not surprised that a no call was made, this was a clear violation of the rulebook on Garnett's part, who has a history of setting moving screens. The Cetlics get away with one.

Denver at OKC:

There were some bad calls throughout the game, like the awful and undeserved technical on Felton. But this one takes the cake and I'm quite surprised that the referee's didn't call it.

Yep. An offensive interference call that should have been made, but unfortunately for the Nuggets, it put the Thunder up 1 with 65 seconds to go in the fourth quarter. Although I think the Thunder would have pulled out the game eventually as the Nuggets kept going through Felton, it certainly ruined the game for a lot of NBA fans.
